We had some French friends staying over the weekend and they claimed that in France there's no road tax at all.......is that right?

PaulV -- think yourself lucky -- over here in Ireland, currently, a Roadster will cost €2250 per annum in car tax!! But do you get decent roads or are they all crap there too? Is the pope a catholic

Outside of the Census, statistics on weekly Mass attendance have revealed an overall decline over the last 30 years, which is most marked in urban areas. A 2006 Poll conducted by the Irish state broadcaster RTE revealed that 48% of those surveyed attended mass at least weekly, as compared to 81% in 1990. A 2011 Survey found weekly attendance rates in the Dublin area to be 14%.

It's more likely to do with all the child abuse and so on.

Nick Correct. It was abolished by the Jospin government in about 2000.

Nick Correct. It was abolished by the Jospin government in about 2000. Wow...we should be staying in the eu and demanding parity!  No wonder my friend can afford two old jaguars and three family cars......

What's the breakeven point for ICE vehicles when the CO2 output of oil exploration, drilling, extraction, transport, refining, distribution, and consumption is taken into account?

What's the breakeven point for ICE vehicles when the CO2 output of oil exploration, drilling, extraction, transport, refining, distribution, and consumption is taken into account? Well, exploration etc is a bit of a sunk cost, but the Prof involved did revise his caclulations to include oil extraction etc, among others based on criticisms ... seems like a reasonably scientific approach although of course a lot of estimates involved! See http://blogs.ulg.ac.be/damien-ernst/electric-697612-km-to-become-green-true-or-false/ Note that IF YOU USE RENEWABLES FOR ELECTRICITY GENERATION such as your own solar, then the break-even gets down to a more reasonable 18640 miles!
