In that tyre there is also a 175/70 R15

Personally I would investigate Michelin, Pirelli, Toyo or Yokohama which are all nearly half the price in Australia.

^^^ We found this out when I tried to fit 185/70's to my new narrow Plus 4. There's a variation between brands on sidewall shape, and the Blockleys didn't clear on 4/4 wires.
So I had to use the Avons, but even so, clearance is maybe 3mm, with a slight side to side variation.

On my previous narrow Plus 4 the Vredesteins fitted Ok at 185/70, so you just need to watch the front frame.

If you scroll down, the 'link' shows all the 15 inch Vredestein sizes, 165's included! :>)

I would agree that 185 is probably too wide... but there are other options.

From the 'end point' of view, perhaps maybe those who race their Morgans, if you spend mega bucks on say SSL suspension etc, with higher spec dampers as well, then why limit the benefit of that by a narrower tyre. 10mm, 20mm, is a large increase in contact patch... and if that is managed properly, the benefits can be significant.

Personally, I would like to get the most from my 4/4 for what it is and within the limitations of what it is... an 'old school' Morgan, not a Caterham or Lotus or something else. I love driving, I love classic Morgans. I want to optimise both experiences! Hence the question. smile

Not sure where you are in the UK, but if in the Midlands area, talk to Paul Harris Tyres - not far from the Belfry...
Nearly 80 miles away for me, but that's where I always go for Morgan tyres smile

Seconded, he's a very knowledgeable chap. It was him that first introduced me to Vredesteins.

Has anyone on here fitted the Avon CR6ZZ Tyres to their 4/4 with the OEM 5 inch wide rims?

If so, what size please... I can only see 185/70/15's as available...?

Any thoughts about comparison with the Avons to the Vredestein?

Cheers!

Pete.

Yes, me! 185/70/15. No experience with the Vredestein.
