I see, not completely unscathed... hope you don’t have lasting bad side effects.

The right thumb has about 50% mobility.... thankfully I am not a surgeon. What it made me realize (as I use more left hand for things) I have arthritis in the left thumb-LOL

Ouch, now you get to experience the adaptive nature of the human animal. One system fail, or starts to fail, and others take over. Like a damaged liver, it regrows itself, and the same for tonsils for whatever reason that is!

I have been fortunate to avoid impacting items for the year I've owned the M3W. I get ribbed now and then because I wear a full-face helmet on my bikes and in the Morgan. It's simply preventative.

Recently, I spent 8 weeks in the hospital and was in a coma for the first two weeks. Why? I was run over by a big-rig just outside of Las Vegas on my way home to Utah. It chewed my Harley into little pieces and the vehicle was, literally, totaled. I was wearing a full-face helmet and a racing outfit at the time. The helmet was totaled as well. I now have a noticeable tracheotomy scar to remind me I had my heart restarted 3 times on the way to the hospital.

Now, when my friends raz me about wearing so much protection - I simply smile. For, I know now how fragile life is. I'm not going to try and convince others.

Do I still ride? Sure. And. I know the protection I wear may not be enough next time. But, what else can we do? I'm still going to do things I enjoy. If there's risk, I know the cost. And, I want my friends here to do the same in life. We all end up in the same place anyway.

Wow hardly covers it. Good to know that it did not kill your spirit as well! How you survived an encounter with a big rig is truly a miracle.

And then to be subjected to hospital food for 8 weeks is cruel and unusual, unless maybe you lucked out and got a hospital with a real kitchen.

Incredible story of survival thank goodness you were wearing a full race suit and full face.
Amazing courage getting back in the saddle after that experience, enjoy your miles thumbs

Just to make a little point that I have made before. Most police in Italy don't know the law well or would just not bother, but----
The Italian regulation states that you must wear a helmet in a 3 wheeler unless it is fitted with a survival cage or a roof and seatbelts. If it is not fitted with a survival cage and is fitted with seatbelts (the M3W) you must wear a helmet and the seatbelts.

I did a body slam to the pavement after a lady just simply drove in front of me. There were scratches on my helmet. Fortunately ONLY a left clavicle in 3 major pieces, broken rib... and an f'd up right thumb which was dislocated..... I can only imagine my brain if there was not a helmet to be scratched
