Being the owner of an Aero for some time I have seen various facets of the reseller channel. I would pay for experience and an unwashed car. There is a small enough pool of skilled people who can fix these cars first go. Even having a strong enough relationship with the factory to get questions answered seems to require a degree of mystery. Making it more difficult for them to remain in business is an unusual tactic. The extended family needs to be built as it is part of the charm and experience.
The factory have not been effective on a number of occasions so to assume that pulling more back to the factory will improve customer service needs verification. Sorry to blaspheme but facts can be proven. If improvements are made then fair enough.
The low volumes involved around the Aero have made it unpleasant on several occasions. I seriously wanted to use the Coupe as my every day car as shooter has done in the past but it was not practical.
I hope the money from II goes into improve quality and service. I hope the Plus6 platform is designed to make it built in.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I can understand, to a point, MMCs position.
It was only a few years ago that MMC claimed that they no longer sold directly to UK customers. But I also believe that the volume of sales in the UK is incompatible with the number of dealers they have.
Lotus Cars sold 228 cars in the UK in 2018, they have roughly the same number of dealers as MMC. I can't find the number of UK sales made by Morgan, but with only 750 or so made I suspect the numbers are between 100 and 150.

Charging access to the “Portal” (Which is I assume nothing more than a glorified name for an online parts, repair/recall notes and technical data repository) for a third party company that has agreed to service and maintain your product/reputation, when you cannot provide a network yourself, is arrogant, stupid, greedy and suicidal from an end user perspective. It’s like saying you can sell our cars for us so that we make money, but the bits we don’t do ourselves like repair and maintenance will have to be done by your mechanics blindfolded, if you want them to see what they need you have to pay extra. It’s an FU attitude, perhaps an online petition here on TM to forward to the Morgan management saying if you want to sell your cars then we the buyers expect you to support the people who service and repair them. How good can this “Portal” be anyway? If it’s run in the same slapdash way the so called owners handbook is produced it would be next to useless.

As MMC is now an Italian owned operation; maybe they’re taking their management inspiration from the Ferrari F1 team?

As MMC is now an Italian owned operation..... or maybe anyone who is too critical on TM risks waking up with a horse's head in their bed.

Hi +8Rich, they can't even sort out the ECU's on the trads, (roadster rev hang, +4ss ecu problems, +4 GDI ecu problems) so what hope have they for the BMW units, having said that my Aero8 ecu was faultless!
Bought several Morgans from Newtown, excellent dealer, shame Morgan is being so hard on dealers, after all as previously said on here who wants to travel 100's of miles for regular warranty work.
A good dealer network is essential.

A good dealer network is essential. Hi exbiker you are right I had forgotten the rev hang Roadster and +4 ECU issues and it's not a good record. Glad to hear your Aero8 was well sorted with the BMW ECU I assume and as that's the direction the new models seem to be heading fingers crossed for the future. Buying a car at the current price pitch and having to travel lots of miles for warranty issues and servicing does not seem too clever in todays world with time being the precious commodity that it is.

Call me cynical/I hope I’m proven wrong, but this stance has a very strong whiff of VC behind it....probably someone with a Harvard MBA has read somewhere that leveraging your distributors will be a good way to drive profits to the company...on the basis that even if you don’t sell any vehicles you have the dealership fees in the coffers. Next thing is they’ll be giving Arnold Clarke a dealership agreement and renegotiating with Stratstones
