Just to keep it all in perspective lads this was the total World dealership list on a Catalogue I received from Peter Morgan in September 1972. I didn't include the price list as I don't like seeing grown men cry . You hopefully will be able to see that Lifes and Allon White are the only 2 remaining from that time so it's evolution. I think those 2, Richard Thorne, Melvyn Rutter, Williams, BHM and Berrybrook will survive but the rest will struggle in the brave new Italian Morgan world order. I would very much like to be proved wrong and that the others will survive. Slightly OT but I’d be interested to see the price list too @+8Rich

Here we go Wolfie, some of the accessory prices too.. I was living and working in Canada at the time so Peter sent the LHD models pricings, funnily enough on Wolfe Island in Ontario.

By comparison, a new Rolls Royce Silver Shadow cost £ 9861 in 1972.
So it was 6.5 times the cost of a plus 8. A new Phantom costs £ 360 000 today, so in relative terms the price of a new Morgan +8 (if you could buy one) has definitely gone up proportionally more than the Rolls Royce

These current dealer issues are one reason there will not be an agent in NZ's biggest city , they could have sold a number here over the last few years but the stock holding demands and compliance costs for access to the parts system ensure that you can not make a sound business case for one even if tagged on to other franchises. Mclaren and Lotus are ticking along here, but most of the recent Morgans landing here are private imports both new and second hand, and there have been quite a few recently. Interestingly in 2017 the factory were very insistent that I could not purchase direct and pushed me to any of the U.K. Main dealers , rather different to 2018 and now with all the ads in Miscellany etc.

It's a shame when the small experienced and dedicated dealers disappear. They belong to the timeline of Trad models. It took the expertise of these dealers who were close to coach building.
Perhaps this is also a sign that the Trad models will gradually disappear. The new models are perhaps more like a lotus, the wood becomes a decoration.
But because there are still so many Trad models, the small traditional dealers may continue to exist with the maintenance of these Trads. I believe that the financial advantage of selling a new car is getting smaller anyway if you have to reckon with the investments, costs, obligations and also the compulsion to buy new cars at your own risk from the factory and these are expensive cars.
But the core of the historical brand value will become smaller without these dealers. I think if MMC were to pursue a strategy of wanting to build the trads further...or being allowed to...they would care more about these deserving dealers.
If there is also in the future enough craftsmanship to do at the cars I would have another suggestion. Then MMC should keep these small dealers to fair conditions in business at least so many of them that the areas are covered. They should continue to be allowed to sell cars. And then MMC should make a deal with BMW garages that take care of everything that has to do with engine, digital etc. That would be a certain disadvantage for the customer to drive to two garages but it would be the advantage of a close-knit network and not to drive 300 miles for a dealership.
I will never buy a car where I would have to drive 200 km and more for a service.
But if MMC doesn't want these old grown values anymore, MMC has to see if there are such dealers Morgan wants and if there are such customers Morgan wants.
