I would imagine that many of the English owners routinely drive their cars in the rain so I'm wondering how that affects the leather ? And what if anything you should do to protect it.

Listen, don`t knock it. 3 weeks without rain and its a drought, then local government threaten us with water shortages et al.

As for the leather, any car Marque will have something thats very good. Try leather food. A local DIY place will sell upholstery wipes, the leather ones.

As for the weather, south island NZ gets more rain than us. Not to knock NZ, but there is an area in Norway or Denmark that has rain 2 out 3 ever days all year. That's when its not snowing.

Keep the half tonneau on & you will keep the drivers seat mostly dry. Carry a large umbrella for when you are forcibly halted for a long period.

This is what I do, only when the rain is torrential does the base of the seat get wet. I then take it out to dry, and sponge out any water on the aluminium floor.

Just drive faster - most of the rain goes over the top of the car but you will need a microfibre cloth for the inside of the windscreen.

I use Gliptone’s normal leather conditioner for my Mog and it works very well

I’ve had plenty of rain getting on the leather crash pad and the tops of seats - usually just the drivers seat as I drive in the wet with a tonneau cover covering most of the seats without any issues as I’ve mopped up with a towel quite quickly afterward

But I noticed the other day that Gliptone have a new conditioner with water repellency

I’ve not tried it so can’t say it does the job but might be worth a try

I've used the Gliptone GT13 since I got my M3W in 2013.

It seems to repel the rain pretty well, however in heavy rain the water gets under the seat and, as Rog G has said, you need ot lift the seat base to let it dry out.

rain? I had only 1/4 inch pooling where my feet go last Saturday

Nacona baseball gloves (still hand made in the USA) actually recommends plain vasoline for their gloves.

Harley-Davidson markets a 'Leather Protectant' that looks and smells just like Vaseline. It probably is just Vaseline which works very well on leather.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.
