Well, my name isn't Dutch, but I am dutch. And in the Netherlands it rains a to, too! Use some leather nourishing product and try to keep the rest as dry as possible, indeed with half tone, etc. I use BMW leather creme, which does the job, and sometimes a heavier creme as Rapide creme in The Netherlands but you can buy stuff like this everywhere, I'm sure.

Harley-Davidson markets a 'Leather Protectant' that looks and smells just like Vaseline. It probably is just Vaseline which works very well on leather. And with the Harley label the price is higher

Surely vaseline would make a mess of any clothes that touched it?
I imagine the proprietary creams have some additives which fix the product.
Anyway, in a M3w with vaseline on seats you'll fly out at the first corner.......

You don't put the whole jar on.... but it is amazing how it soaks into the leather

I feel like there have been more than a couple of tales on these forums about rollovers when a front tire hits standing water. That's the main reason I don't drive in the rain. Also, we don't get spritzed, it's all monsoon here.

Thanks to all. I'll check around here and see what's available. I've got a spray that I've used on my leather Vespa seat but never looked to see if it's a water repellent. Who ever reads the label ? :-)

you really cannot water proof leather, what you do is make sure the oils to keep it supple are still present

I always use saddle soap and it does the job and is good exercise  saddle soap
