Cracked it.
It was the bloody ignition key, I had decided to give up for the day and go for a few pints and try again tomorrow but walking back from the pub I began to think about the ignition immobiliser.
Back home pulled out the spare key turned it and the engine sprung into life, god knows what was effecting the key as its a sealed unit I have been using for the past few years.
Just proves the power of a few pints to concentrate the mind, unfortunately I have splashed out on a new battery.
