Would always prefer a trad. Looks much better, great heritage, cheaper, manual gearchange, better sound, repairable after accident.... The 280 horses in the V6 Roadster are more than enough, if you want a strong car.

Reasonable considering the niche the car occupies but somehow lacking the connection that other writers have made with the Aero in the past. Morgan need to spend some money with the chaps that did Shooters suspension setup by the sounds of it.
It feels like he enjoyed a day out but did not form that bond with the fun aspect of the car. Everyone's perspective is going to be unique. I guess the scoring system has to be even across all types of car, niche to volume and in that respect it does seem a little low but fair. If you are looking at it from a whole market point of view then the unique compromises of a Morgan do leave gaps. But if you want one and love them then you compromise don't you. Then you get that BIG grin that the other cars don't offer, even on the options list. Smug grin maybe but it's not the same is it.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

From the Pistonheads article. "The faithful seem to agree, Morgan has already taken 150 orders. With a plan to double sales over the next five years, from the current 750 cars a year, that’s a good start." Now that is good news.

The pistonheads is a fair review from a non converted perspective and pretty objective I would say. Very disappointed about the sound track, I'll hear it going up the hill on Saturday at Goodwood and judge for myself.
I would be really interested in an Aero8 owners comparison to be honest though it would mean more I think.
As an Aero +8 owner I've been looking at the +6. I know the engine and gearbox as I had a BMW M140i for a while. The engine response and gear change are both super, I wouldn't want a manual box. But the "elephant in the corner" is the exhaust noise: it is is, well, modern. Yes, it will deliver a few pops and bangs on the overrun, but compared with the visceral roar of the V8 in the Plus 8 it is barely worth a second thought. Our Plus 8 is now 5, with 40,000 miles on the clock. I ask myself "what would the Plus 6 give me that the Plus 8 does not and what would I miss?". Until I driver a Plus 6 I don't know, but it is going to have to be very impressive to get me to change.

I ended up in the Aero S2 for that very reason Peter. The Skyline GTR 33 had a wailing banshee exhaust note and rev cut at 8500rpm. The sound went right through you as you wound out second and third gears seemingly forever.
We got an 18 month lead time on the GTR35 when handing over the deposit at 9.02am on the day of release. We went off and bought the Aero S2 as a short term fun car. We then got a track day from Nissan as a sorry for the delay. My god it was freakishly fast but sounded wrong and did not connect like the old one. We cancelled, the Aero had a secret weapon that the GTR was never going to match. A lumpy V8 with sidepipes. No common sense was harmed in the achievement of this decision. The GTR would probably have been replaced three or four times in the 10 years we have had the S2 now. We could not even bring ourselves to sell it and protect the pension fund when we got the Coupe. Absolutely no common sense was harmed in the making of this decision either. You only get one life so whatever the parameters are you just have to make the right choices.
I trust the Plus6 is going to make a lot of new happy stories for others. It will take a bit of a knock to pull the V8 out from under me for a while.

I shall be very interested in your impressions Peter when you get the opportunity to drive one. Like you the sound track plays a major role in the choice of a toy car, I tried to love a V6 Roadster but it just didn't cut it for me with a stiff clutch and little in the way of a sound track.

The odds are stacked against cars like the a Morgan when they are tested. The average journo just doesn't "get" this type of car, they are used to testing tin boxes, some very fast and most quite ordinary, but all very similar. So a morgan just doesn't fit the mould (which is why we love them) so they just don't know what to do with them.
As for the sound, if there is a sports exhaust package available, why wasn't it fitted to the press car(s)?
I do love the looks and will be interested to see how the car develops and sounds, over the coming years.

I think the Autocar review is exactly what I expected
In fact I think any of us could have written it without driving the new Plus Six by anticipating what an experienced sports car reviewer not wedded to Morgan might think
It’s not going to feel as dynamically capable as a Porsche despite it being the most dynamically capable Mog to date nor should we expect it to be really
I bet it’s great to drive but then again I think my trad chassis Mog is great to drive at times and I thought the ARP4 was pretty damn special when I had a test drive
