I had a misfire on my 2011 plus 4 which turned out to be just dirt and condensation on one of the plugs. I intend to replace all of the plugs but is it worth paying out for Magnecor leads ? I don’t race but I am told they are more reliable and last longer.

Any views.

All I can say is that I used them on all my Morgans except the Roadster and never had any trouble. I do think there was a difference but I can't prove it.

Leads in good condition is a definite yes as they can deteriorate with age and the spark die back a bit.I replaced mine on the 4/4 as they were originals to the car and it was 20 yrs old when I bought the car. I put standard ones on and noticed a slight difference.
The “word on the street” is that Magnecor are very good. My current car had them when bought ( many thanks to a previous owner).
My view is.....
Good plugs, leads, coil( packs) plus injectors that give a good spray pattern results in a good burn.
Sorry I can’t help with a proper comparison but perhaps the racers on TM can chip in on Magnecor.

Magnecor leads will set you back £70 or so, so why fix it when it ain’t broke? On the other hand, the plug corrosion issue is well known and bound to return, so you would be better spending your money to address that. (Cam cover etc)

There is no question that Magnecor leads are superior in terms of construction to the standard hem fitment items.

All of the racing engine preparation shops fit them as standard on customer engines (John Eales, Chris Connoly etc ) and they do know a thing or two about this.

Whether this translates as a performance gain is debatable , however they will certainly outlast the originals by many decades.

Like most things associated with ignition they probably won't help much with a perfect functioning system but will when the chips are down with low battery and cold/damp weather. They certainly improved starting when I fitted them to my M3W. Ditto NGK Iridium tip plugs
