tmg513, I don't know what reasons lead you to this area of Germany, with the flat terrain. But I would highly recommend the Eifel and of course Bavaria as an add on.

I've been to both the Eifel region and Bavaria many times but never to Hamburg. I particularly want to visit the Kunsthalle.

Yes, I agree, it's just not so winding and without hills or mountains in the North. But if you are already in the region then it would be nice to drive through the "alte Land" near Hamburg and also Husum and the area around Schleswig Holstein is very beautiful.

Yes we liked touring up there and Lubeck is nice also. A little trip to Romo and Sylt never goes amiss whist you are in the area so to speak they are quite unique.

We never got to Bremerhaven where I believe there is a preserved U boat there which I would be interested in seeing, they were very brave people as are all submariners.

Luneberg Heide is very pretty. Bergen Belsen is very thought provoking.

A pleasant 68 mile round trip to Brassington to join our U3A Derbyshire Walking group for a lovely 5 mile walk followed by lunch at The Gate - a pub to be recommended.

Down to Felixstowe for the fun of it & to look at the sea. On the way I parked at Walton church to go shopping.
