A question for the people who have converted their M3W lamps to these LED’s.

Did you have to modify the buckets at all?

Do they fit into the bucket/trim with the baskets in place?

Did you have to remove the rubber sheathing inside the bucket that goes around the wiring and sticks up into the bucket?

All info would be appreciated 😊

Cheers,
Stephen

The JW Speaker lights were pretty much plug and play if I recall. There are a few clips that you have to get the hang of but after that pretty easy. I didn't do anything different or take parts off on my 2017.

Thank you. Did those clips (W) lay flat on the JW Speaker lamps or were they at a bit of an angle. The lamps don't sit far enough into the bezel to allow the W clips to be in the same configuration as the OEM Lamps. Those W clips are indeed a hassle but can be installed and I found angled needle nosed pliers really helped, although one launched off into space in the garage and it took me three days to find it. :-)

I got the lamps to work but not locked into the bucket. I will have another go of it now that remove and replace of the lamp w/Wclips is easier from experience.

Thank you,
Stephen

UPDATE: Tried for a fourth time to get those lamps into the M3W Buckets with no success. I am beginning to think that the factory sourced a slightly different headlamp bucket for this new 2019 3 Wheeeler

The W clips need to be man handled a bit. Clearly they were a pain but once you figure them out all goes well. I got frustrated with them as well and it took a bit of trying differently and ensuring the bulb stays centered. Also need to ensure you pick the right spot on the light housing. Done correctly I believe the W clips fit similar to the factory lights but not perfect.

The thing that does not work is that the led lamps do not fit down into the bezel like the oem lamps and therefore the W clips, even when manhandled, will not sit with the U part of the clip flat against the rim of the lamp like they do in the oem lamps. That extra thickness causes a decrease in seating depth for the bezel to bucket attachment.

If I decide to try it again I will photograph it, otherwise I will sell the JW Speaker lamps at a fire sale price.

Yes, If I can get the correct bucket for them I would be happy, but if not then they are so much expensive ballast.

I have the clips mastered but it occurred to me that the headlamps that you replaced might be different than the ones I am trying to replace. Did yours have halogen bulbs and looks like this?

The Evo 2s are designed to replace standard 7" lights, so if they do not fit I would discuss with the supplier. If all else fails they should take them back I guess.
