They can be cloned very quickly. Never leave your car (tin top) alone with anything valuable in it at a motorway cafe particularly if you open the car and lock it again. There is a system that scans the signal when you lock or unlock the car and a few minutes later when you are out of sight they can open the car. Heinz: How would they know? It happens every now and then that a stolen car is driven cruelly, perhaps in the end with an accident. And then the thieves flee. Then you can see from the wreck if the car was locked or if it was open. I know that this has only symbolic meaning for a Morgan, but the insurance is interested in something like this because they are looking for circumstantial evidence not to have to pay. I completely agree with you Heinz. I am very careful with anything that may involve an insurance claim rejection.

I only made the comment as a throw away observation.
I locked the car once on the first day but never again because it was such a pain.
To me central locking on a Morgan is as useful as a chocolate teapot.
However Heinz's comments has made me reconsider.
In future I will flick the internal switch after leaving the car, remembering of course to flick it back before entering

Yes I always flick the door switch and turn the Red Key through 90 degrees to isolate the battery for that very reason

I have no exterior door handles. No roof, just tonneau. Just flip the inside lever on the inside door handle and remove the key and battery isolator.

Once when taking my blind friend out in the Morgan we stopped to go for a run. Sensing a delay he asked what I was doing and I told him I was locking the car. His response was "But it would only stop a not very determined dwarf!". Apologies to those vertically challenged but it does make a point. Incidentally I often lock mine just for insurance purposes.

A PITA if you are just popping in to the shop to buy a bottle of milk or somesuch. If using the tonneau cover I usually lay the seats forward to avoid removing the headrests. For newbies: do keep a firm hold of the headrest if you remove it. They tend to come free from the seat very suddenly and can do a bit of damage if they escape from your hands, fly up into the air, and fall metal first on your paintwork
