I'm hoping to have a thinner key for my Morgan without the bulky plastic case. Does the M3W have any kind of chip in the key that needs programming or will a plain metal key (of the proper size of course) work?

Also is their common knowledge of the key code/size? I've been digging around and between the different models of Morgan and variations over the years it's been tricky!

The key is from Peugeot 205, no chip, however my car does not have a factory immobilizer

Some time ago, someone made a shorter knurled metal cap for their existing key that made insertion less fiddly. There was a photo. No chip required.

Where can I find it

The knurled knob is an inexpensive stainless item I bought online (Amazon) for another project and didn't use. You will want one with 3/16 or 1/4" female threads, or metric equivalent. I then made a small channel cut the width of the key across the drilled face, then cut off and shaped the end of the key to insert into the hole as well as index into the channel. Epoxy holds it together, with the turning force taken by the key in the cut channel, so it's very solid.

To get it to match the finish of the existing switches, I glass bead blasted the knob portion, then oiled it with ACF-50.

I thought it odd that Morgan put that junky looking bulky key for the main ignition and made a rather nice key for the gas cap. Makes no sense.

And then key both the same so one key does everything would make more sense. I don’t recall filling up with fuel and having the vehicle running, ever!
