We've had our 2008 57 reg for 10 years, its a 2.0 litre diesel sport, it's my wife's car. Ive done routine servicing myself, oils, replaced discs and pads, fuel filter, pollen filter, no air filter changes, i installed a KN. Just fitted its first battery. Ive had the cambelt done twice, 50k and 90k. Had a window motor replaced and and abs pump. Iv3e had the front wings replaced under VW warrenty just last year......all vw front wings rot......google it!!!!!
Ive had the roof looked at once by the vw dealer about 4 years ago to cure a rattle and that cost £200, its been fine. I do keep the roof drains clean annually, shove a bit of wire down each drain tube to ensure its clear then pour a kettle of water down and watch it drain. I annually lubricate the roof seals with special VW lubricant, its a must. Its not been hard on tyres, 30 to 40 k a set. Never failed an MOT. Fuel economy is great we run it up and down to london instead of my Golf R and returns 53mpg (brimming tank and the using 4.54 litres to the gallon as a conv factor). Wife still loves it we'll run it until.....
We've toured abroad with it, decided on the EOS for that particular trip when we got up on the departure day and the weather was lousy, ould cace dragging the moggie down to Dover from north yorkshire.
Its silver metalic with red leather and interior and exterior is still great, its what i call our banger since its probably worth about 1500 quid on a good day. Never had any serious leaks, if its goes thro a car wash we'll get 2 finger nail size spot of water through the back windows which ive not been able to cure but normal heavy rain no leaks

I spoke to a fellow volunteer at Sutton Hoo who has an EOS.
He loves it. Apparently it was the very early cars that had roof seal issues. His is 10 years old and doesn't leak.
