Top Mog replacement bits that look like they might actually work

Although I don’t think my wipers are terrible and do seem to do mostly what’s expected, there is definitely room for improvement

Well...as I'm shoving the classic Mini up Shelsley Walsh in a couple of weeks, I'm spending some £££ on prep for that, at 52 yrs old it needs some TLC

Vital thread for any mogster who wants to bin Moggy rubbish and replace with 21stC stuff , thank you Cooperman for this , need to get these asap as despite having more wipers than any other normal car they don't actually clear the screen of wet very well !

I did it too

The wiper blades WBS8 fit pretty well

I recorded a video in slow motion with the unmodified wiper blades.

The wiper blades have slightly different paths on the way there and back (about 3-5 mm). On the way back they touch the upper edge of the windshield (visible in the video). But only the rubber touches the metal frame.
At the very end of the video you can also see that the right wiper, seen from the front, touches the metal frame on the right a bit more.



To reduce this I made the same modification as CooperMan. But the result is a stronger touch at the metal frame below. I have now mounted the wiper blades unmodified and will try to shorten the right wiper blade a bit. Then it should fit.

The wiping behaviour is significantly better than with the original wiper blades (no rattling at all).

I'm curious about the first test in the rain.

From my point of view this is a very recommendable (and not very expensive) modification.

Michael, if you slide the rubbers out you can cut down the overhang of the thin metal slips as your close up shows & them trim the rubber too

Mine were tested in very heavy rain for several hours of continuous driving & worked very well

That's right! I've added them to MMC's photo book and often show them to interested people to explain the construction of the Classical Morgans.

Have just bought three of those little wipers from carbuildersolutions , they seem to have dropped the postage charge since I went on there before the Welsh mog trip - wished I'd had them then but only saw the post recently , looking forward to getting them and fitting them and lots of rain !
