I dont think you can expect an outfit like "we buy any car" to but something that to the Motor trade is as obscure and specialis as a Morgan. Thei business model is based on buying standard cars for which there is an established market price and then selling them on for a small margin at auction. Were they to buy a Morgan, they couldnt even be sure of it selling at auction let alone at what price.

I used Tootle to sell the F type. I got a marginally better price than offered by the Jag dealers but it was a few thousand less than F types were being offered at. They might be a better bet for a Morgan but I doubt it.

I think Phil's point is that a company calling itself "We Buy Any Car" ought to buy any car.

If their business model prevents them from meeting that, not unreasonable, expectation then they should change their name.

Do not be unfair!
A Morgan is not just any car, it is a piece of art and class.
Nothing mentioned about buying art.

Rich, Although we haven't been home since early July, I am reliably informed that we now have a registered and MOT'ed car. It is currently going through initial road tests. I will send you some photos when we get back home. I hope to lay hands on the car in early Sept.

I tried them some years ago with a Westfield. Really good quote on line so I made an appointment at Cambourne, Cambs. A few days later as I was getting ready to leave the house to go to the appointment they phoned to say "do not come as we do not buy this type of car", I said no I have your quote I am on my way and I went to the depot. I was in devilment mode by now. They kept me waiting for 40 mins then a buyer came to me and said he had to see a customer before me and then he would be back. I took his elbow and "convinced" him to look at mine first, he tried every way to reduce the figure they had given which was difficult on a car that was perfect, we parted with him saying they would be in touch which of course I knew was rubbish. I got in touch with Cambs trading standards but by the time they got back to me, 15 months, I had lost interest. Since then 2 relatives have sold cars to them and both have taken a beating.

The business model is that it allows a retail customer quick access to dispose of a car via the 'trade' without the hassle of directly putting it into an auction - hence the low value offered, all the layers it will pass through take a cut and ultimately BCA are taking a risk on what it will finally achieve at the actual auction

That's the problem with local Trading Standards offices these days. You can't even complain directly to them any more, you have to go via Citizens' Advice first and they will pass your issue on after vetting it, with the proviso that it may be a long time before you hear anything ... if ever. I have one in against Vodafone but I've no way of checking the progress.

The Advertising Standards Authority are a better bet for a service doesn't live up to its claims. I notice that We Buy Any Car Ltd. has already had four claims upheld against it for misleading advertising, including the fact that they disguise their admin fee. Complaining to the ASA is relatively straightforward so if I were the OP I would give it a go. Unfortunately, the ASA has no powers to levy fines but they can make sure misleading adverts aren't repeated. It would be interesting to hear their views on a misleading company name.

I suppose the claim ‘we buy any car’ is the company name not a promise

If they do promise that ‘they buy any car’, it could be true in that that will buy ‘any’ but not ‘all’ cars
There is a subtle difference
