So far I have found three electrical connectors that are not being used in my new USA M3W.

Two female connectors, one on each side of the down tube running from the dashboard down toward the floor. At the horizontal member at the side in the cockpit they intersect and there is a female connector that is unused AND UNCAPPED!! Where were those suppose to go and for what purpose?

Also, and of more interest, is the female connector under the tray in the boot. It is the little yellow spot on the right of the boot up forward at the end of the woodworking.

So what was this for? Why is it not capped off to protect it and the rest of the electrical system?

I have yet to puta meter on it but I have suspicions but thought I would ask the knowledgeable members.

the ones in cockpit are repeaters for direction indicators, the one in the back is high level brake light! there there for Austrailian model.... hope this helps.....

And there are also an unused pair that terminate in a four way connector at the tail of the car that also feeds rear fog light. These are a gearbox driven reverse light feed. Some countries (Australia) utilise this in lieu of fog lamp.

If you didn't spec heated seats the feed cables terminate under fuse box. I used these as main feed when I fitted relay operated twin air horn.

Richard, since I want a Backup Light, that info is very useful because I was wondering the best way to run a conductor back from the transmission to the tail lamp. It appears MMC has already done it. That rear fog lamp is useless and probably only there to pass a government requirement.

On a slightly different note, the rear turn lamps and the reflectors right below them; are those lens removable? I would like to turn the reflector into an additional brake lamp. I would like to take that High Brake Light Receptacle and use it for added Brake lights in place of the reflectors that are doing nothing below the rear turn signal lamps.

I did spec Heated Seats.

Stephen i have made my rear reflectors into stop and tail lights !!! the reflector just pops out , i removed the plastic rear of the reflector mounted a L.E.D unit inside the housing , the reflector still reflects when light are off... so all good...

is there wiring in the reflector? Or did you need to add it. I like the idea of more light

What LED elements did you use? Same ones in the Turn Signal Lamps?

The pre-installed, gearbox switched, powered and fused reversing light feed are the unused green/brown and black pair in the female part of rear four way connector I mentioned. You need a 55mm high power clear lens LED. I bought mine here. If memory serves I did have to file down the edges of cooling fins to allow snug fit in the housing, otherwise it should be a straight swap although I fitted mine in another pod to retain fog light. The same source should offer matching 55mm red and amber LED lamps with high power versions for stop lamps.

You may be able to pry out pins from the male part of four way connector and relocate to make contact with reversing light feed already in female part. You could then just cut wires of red foglamp such that it can be reused with bullet connectors, and use same to connect new reversing light. The removed red fog lamp LED could be then be recycled as high level brake light if you obtain a new pod and pillar as per Oz spec.

i got some accessory L.E.D units from a motorcycle shop, fitted them inside the rear lamp housing on a piece off aluminium cut like a large washer and hot glued in... wire bit more difficult to run! i drilled a small hole tight behind the bolt that holds the indicator and reflector pods together and put a sleeve through with the wire inside, all sealed up with small amount of silicone sealer. from there run into car body through where the indicator wire goes . connect to rear light loom...Hay presto!!!!
