hi Guys,
Some advice please. I have had my 2006 plus 4 for 5 years. having purchased it from Williams I subsequently realised that it had a "list" to the drivers side. . I confirmed it was an "actual" list by measuring chassis to floor. I was not much but enough for me to notice!!

Over the 5 years the car has had a 17 stone pilot and an 8 stone navigator. This weekend my daughter and friend followed us and took some photos of the car whilst occupied and in motion. In the photos the list to driver side was REALLY noticeable.

Consequently, I think its time to do something and I wanted to understand options and, recognising the crew weight imbalance and the fact I often drive it alone can I get some answers to the following questions.

1. Are the springs interchangeable so I can move the stronger left spring to the driver side. (ie swop them over)?
2 Is Morgan the only source of replacement springs?
3. If not other sources? Recommendations
4. Is there any guarantee "matched springs are supplied or is it pot luck?
5. Is it a job that can be done DIY?
6. Any recommendations for dealer/garage to either swop over existing springs (if feasible) or fit new ones? My post code is OX29
7. What can I typically expect to pay for supply and fit new springs.

As an aside I do not want to change to 5 link rear suspension.

Any advice (other than lose weight) really appreciated.

I would suggest going for the later four leaf 4 seater springs, which transformed my 2012.


I sourced mine from Mulfab, but the dealers should all be able to supply.

Oh and yes it's a diy option, but expect hard work in lining it all up. If you haven't tackled leaf springs before, it may be best not to attempt it yourself.

I'm out of touch with prices but a wild guess......around £450 for the springs and something similar for fitting....maybe!

Spot on.
My 2011 4/4 had a 40mm list from new. Morgan finally replaced the sagging springs with a set of four leaf 4 seaters under warranty.
Problem solved.

Ian, I think your car is from the era when MMC bought some offshore low grade leaf springs & the issues you describe, other owners have had

Owen (I think) now supply MMC and probably aftermarket suppliers like Mulfab, but Caveat Emptor

5LL rear suspension , dramatic improvement in handling and comfort albiet cost may put you off .

You bought the car from Williams. Talk to them, they are good people and know their Morgans from top to bottom.

The Mulfab 4 seater springs last year cost 190 GBP (two) plus 25 GBP shipping to Germany plus VAT.

I have just (a month ago) done this job on "Possum" the 2014 Plus 4 Plus turbo. Not many years old and only about 12k miles I was not impressed by the definite lurch to the right -- The driver might be a bit of a porker but the list to the right didn't even recover when there was a passenger on the left and no driver on board. I'm told the springs were sourced from Sri Lanka by MMC and are, to put it mildly, not very good. I bought a pair of Sheffield-made "Morgan assymmetric anti-tramp springs" for about £280 inc vat from BCC (British-made classic car parts). I have no connection with this company other than as a customer. see www.bcc-parts.com (01209 202820).
Unlike the regular Morgan springs these are stiffer at the front and can only be installed one way round. It IS a job you can do yourself but it's messy and unpleasant. The lovely people at Perranwell Garage (Morgan specialists) installed them for me and made a very good job of it for just under £300 inc vat.
Obviously too early to tell how the springs will perform over time but they feel very good -- and the car is level even with me in it.

Cooperman. Sent Owen springs an enquiry. Their web site does not appear to cover Morgan under their leaf spring menu.
