Maybe a hollow bolt would work to route the wires?

It was easy getting the lens off using a sharp pointed O ring tool to start it moving then use a small blade screw driver to pry it off working all around the lens equally.

Skullmog, would you have a link to the LED unit you used? I have been searching and I really want to add stop lamps instead of that reflector. Did your fit the pod in the same tight Manner?

I can't find the actual units i got ( Was 3 years ago) but i purchased them from Alchemy parts motorbike accessory on line.. LED projector lens stop and tail lights.... I did try the hollow bolt idea but couldn't' get the wire through without making the bolt to thin and weak, don't forget it has to handle vibration! the rear lamps still look exactly as they did standard.... sorry can't take the lens off to show because they are permanently glued now!

Thanks Skullmog, I used Alchemy parts before so I have the link. Once you had it all in working you had to glue it in place.

these are kind of pricey, but I wonder about replacing the bottom half with this for a running/brake light

If you are going to have to deal with the exposed wire then why not find a lamp with a through stem wiring? If you can find it.

There are these to put into the existing pods, but I am sure there are others.

JPcycles does have some that are light/brake/turn and you could just replace the whole OEM part. So there would only be one fixture out there, instead of the odd added lower peice

I do like that idea. https://www.customdynamics.com/billet-bullet-led-turn-signals-tail-lights#productSpecifications

I also have been exploring the molded blister concept of the lights being mounted into the blister that protudes and is aerodynamic, a very art deco concept.
