I am well aware that the linings on rear brake shoes are thinner on one shoe than the other, from new. Can anyone tell me what the minimum thickness is on a brand new set of linings. Mine are down to 3mm on the thin shoe but plenty of meat left on the adjacent lining so wondering when to change.

I have a spare new set in the garage and will measure them tomorrow morning.

Well they are 3mm and 5mm decided I needed a bit of fresh air grin2. I'd say yours are as fitted grin2

Thanks Rich. Mine have done 35k, so obviously the rear brakes don’t do a lot of work! And, being an ex-biker, I only tend to mainly use brakes when I actually need to stop. Think I’ll give them another 5k and review then.

I had well over 50k from an S1 Roadster and there was still plenty of meat left on them, unless you're the last of the late brakers Trads don't wear the rears much

From memory, it’s the shoes towards the rear of the car that are the thinner. Good pics and diagrams on the Morganatica website.

From gomog brakes it's clear here. I don't use Morgantica I find it too clunky.

I normally head for gomog too, but in this case i felt that the pics and diagrams on Morganatica better showed the difference in lining thickness, as they are shown head on.

Just checked the Morgantica and yes I agree, lots of gomog content there too so good to see a mix.
