An adjunct to M3W's question:

Does Morgan routinely make evolutionary product changes "on the fly," or at fixed yearly model change intervals?

Morgan is a hand-built product - I doubt any two are exactly the same - part of the charm --however it has been the case in the past that each owner had to accept that some bits would need adjustment, replacementas they nearly fell off etc. I.E the owner did the shakedown to a greater or lesser degree depending on the skill/attention of the Dealer's pre-delivery check.

Now -- my 2009 car is light years ahead of the 1996 car I previously had and there have been ZERO issues with it - perhaps because my dealer -- Newtown Motors in Cwmbran, Wales just did their job right or perhaps because the factory have actually improved the build quality as they profess!!

In any hand-built product you may find some issues, but I guarantee that most will be sorted ASAP by your dealer and extreemly few will wipe the silly grin from your face each time you drive it - indeed even see it!!!!!

Enjoy when you get it -- I wish I could afford one!

Thanks Robbie for your honesty!

The "hand-built" I see as a great plus and also the personalisation that every owner seems to do to their car.

Maybe my worries are not needed, the concept has already been well tested by Liberty Motors/ACE Cycle Cars ( http://cycle-car.com ) and then hopefully beeing developed into perfection by Morgan, so I guess major construction issues are already washed and what we now see is only fine tuning.

All the best from Sweden/T

Whilst on the face of it the trikes look the same, mechanically there are quite a number of significant changes and I'm not just talking about the S&S engine, as opposed to HD.

The drive in the Ace is based on a motorcycle shaft drive, whereas in the Mog it, and the rear suspension, are designed specifically for it and it is belt-driven, etc. As the works development team are used to engineering much more complicated cars, viz the Aero range, I have little doubt that the car will perform as expected when it is released to us to play with...
woohoo

Great, I knew from before that Santa lives at the North Pole (not so far away from me)...but I now fully understands that his workshop is situated in Malvern, Worcestershire smile

Morgan has always made their changes on the fly. New parts are introduced as the old stock depletes

Thoughts about whether to update one's personal car over time, or maintain it in historical condition? Morgan owners seem to embrace mods galore, but wondering what such changes would do to its future desirability?

Keep the original parts, and don't do any mods that can not be easily reversed to the stock configuration.

And by Morgan. smile

If there is one company that knows about three wheelers, and racing, on this globe, then that is MMC. I'm quite confident of them making sure it handles and runs best possible.
