Thanks U2C1 that's a great 'idiots' guide which suits me down to the ground especially as it appears bugs are 'attracted' to white cars +1 - Excellent advice and I'll move it to the Maintenance Section as it is a great easy reference guide.

Some good advice there, U2C1
Much of the advice can be used for boats too!
One of the reasons for not using dish washing soaps is because it contains salt, right? Yes, it contains lots of salt. It's also far too strong for cleaning a car with. It will strip a car of any wax it might have on it. Use it a few times and your paint will be dull and cloudy and in need of professional help. I always say "metallic paintwork is really quite different from the inside of your kitchen pots!" Thanks

Cool! I'm such a cleaning/detailing geek that I am more than happy to write up a more comprehensive guide in mind-numbing detail???

My suggestion would be to either do it on a Word Doc, mail it to me and I can post it on your behalf, or start a new thread and I'll make it sticky.

Excellent, thank you, exactly the kind of advice I am looking for.
Any recommendations of products? Like I say I use Autoglym at the moment but shampoos are quite cheap. Dodo Juice seems to be popular amongst detailers?
A good, reasonably priced wax for a dark silver car?
And, lastly, when should you polish and when should you wax?
Thank you!
