At some point, MMC must have removed the on / off water valve. My heater matrix is permanently fed with hot water and there is simply a flap to stop the hot air coming into the car.
I'm going to add a valve so I can turn it off in hot weather as a bit of the hot air always finds it's way past the flap even in the off position. That is exactly what I thought when posting this. http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/600215/re-4-4-heater-not-heating#Post600215

Here's a counter-intuitive thought (although I'm sure others have had it before me)
In the summer, to get more engine cooling, open the water valve so the heater matrix acts as an extra radiator.
In the winter, to warm the engine up quicker, close the water valve thus removing the cooling effect of the heater matrix.
Might not be very popular with passengers though.

I found that even with the heter valve off, hot water still found its way into the heater matrix as bizarrely the valve is on the outflow side of the heater. So I put in an extra valve on the inflow side as well to completely isolate the heater matrix in hot weather. In really hot weather I do as you indicate in your later post, I put the heater matrix back in circuit to get some extra cooling.

OK so after a little rummaging I've discovered the following.
There is no water valve I've found. but the knob under the dash operates a flap presumably allowing air to flow or not.
The motor is now out and was indeed seized. water had got in and rusted the armature to the magnets. Motor stripped and cleaned in my lathe and its back together and running nicely.
reinstall tomorrow and see what happens.
2012 Plus 4 in Sport Green. Much comfier than the Plus 8!

The problem, surely, is not to get heat in to the cockpit but to keep it out, at least in summer. Without a valve to close the hot water flow how do you get cool air into the footwell?
