I have had them as snow tyres & they worked well. No experience of them as summer tyres though.

robmog88, opportune post. I have just ordered 4 vredestein sprint classics (175/70/R15 86H) for my 4/4. Will post what they are like once delivered & fitted.
I'll be very interested to see how you get on changing from the standard 165/80R15 to the 175/70R15. I think you will have to tweak your speedo calibration and it should give the effect of raising the final drive ratio for better acceleration. Difference should be about 7 or 8%

The difference is about 3% more speed shown and it is 0.9 cm less clearance, so it is not too much of a difference.

Sidewall deformation was a fairly common occurrence on the Sprint Classics - not sure if it still is ? Apparently it doesn't affect their performance and isn't of any concern.

Not sure about 'fairly common', I've only ever seen photographs of two cars with it on a couple of tyres. I've been using these tyres since 2013 having bought 9 so far, and none of them have had the issue.

It was certainly "fairly common" some years back which is why I mentioned it. I have personal experience, as do friends of mine. Here's a link when I first raised it a few years back. The picture is typical of the sidewall deformation I've seen on dozens of Vredesteins. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=140&t=1159000

I am ex-tyre manufacturing and I posted this in a previous thread on this subject. I am happy to use Vredestein Sprint Classics on my current 4/4 and previously used them for road, hillclimbs and production car trials without problems.
"Sidewall bulges and hollows are a function of the way in which the sidewall is applied during the tyre building process. In manual tyre building the sidewalls are applied to a horizontal drum and joined (or spliced) butt, or with a specified amount of overlap. If the overlap is too large it can cause a bulge at the join and a hollow in the area immediately behind the join. These are normally cosmetic defects and will not affect the performance of the tyre. Bulges which are caused by structural damage which results in spreading of the ply cords on the other hand, are dangerous and any tyre which has this damage should be replaced immediately. Tyres which are supplied to car manufacturers as original equipment (O/E) have to meet the car manufacturers' specification for sidewall undulations and tyre manufacturers employ sophisticated measurement equipment during the final inspection phase of the tyre manufacturing operations to check this.Since the type of tyres we are talking about are not used as O/E I will leave you to draw your own conclusions............"

I should probably point out that I didn't work for Vredestein!
