At our last centre noggin,it was mentioned that Lifes of Southport are closing in December.
The owner has decided to retire.
Think the good news is the experienced mechanic is moving to another garage that looks after Lotus cars etc.
So his talent will not be lost.
I know Stewart S is a loyal Lifes customer as many other in the North West.

. Sad that another historic dealer is leaving the fold. But human age takes its toll. Nothing lasts for ever.

That is sad news when I visited them back in 1994 I'm pretty sure their claim to fame was that they were the oldest Morgan dealers. They were a nice friendly welcoming bunch too I wish them well in their new paths.

Lifes Motors Ltd ~ 'Morgan dealers since 1926 - the oldest in the world'.

I wonder who will take over the title?

Is this becoming a defining factor in Morgans history in that small, specialist garages will not be able to cope with whatever the Companies new requirements for dealers are? I think it's a great shame that the personal touch will soon be gone and we may only be left with a few "plate glass" dealerships who, although having the knowledge, will not reflect the persona that to me is an integral part of Morgan ownership.

I've watched that happen to bike dealerships. Biking used to be an enthusiasts business. Now its all big car dealers and salesmen with shiny suits and scuffed pointy shoes. Who specialise in looking down on customers.

I suspect that the factory must be thinking about selling direct, especially with the building upgrades, and because it makes a unique experience, plus a small number of surviving UK dealers.

They have been selling direct for well over a year.

Dave is retiring but Life's is carrying on servicing Morgans and Matty is carrying on as Life's in shared premises with a local Lotus specialist.

I wish Dave and Matty all the best and I will continue to have my Morgan serviced at Life's under the new ownership.
