Round convex mirrors should be fitted. Or at least that's what I'll be fitting. Perhaps I'll even stick a smaller extra mirror on the mirror itself (i.e. glue it to the glass surface) as some some touring motorcyclists do to have a better view.

Steering wheel: I like the matt black finish - Less reflections from the sun. Although I don't like it being branded and I'd prefer a wooden rim with those metal studs. But it should be possible to buy both of those things at several third party manufacturers.

Exhausts: Mine will be covered in black heat shield wrapping. But that muffler? I have no idea how this works properly, but I'd like it if it weren't placed at the very end. It looks like a stick with a thermos at the end.

Oh, I forgot the inner mud guards:

I'm thinking that they're probably there for a reason. Perhaps the test drivers continued to having to dodge small stones. If that is the problem, I wouldn't mind if they became standard. If one is to race it, it should be just as easy to unbolt the entire mud guard.

Speaking of mud guards: I'll be finding me a nice piece of very thick leather, impregnate it with lanolin, and bolt it to the wooden frame behind the rear wheel so mud and stones won't hit the aluminium, denting it to bits. With "butterfly" bolts it should be easy to take it off and giving it a good rinse once in a while.

I seem to recall a pic somewhere of a removable "luggage tray" fitted above the rear wheel that would effectively prevent stones from dinging the bodywork above the tire. Having such a fitted tray would be necessary anyway to protect items stored there.

It's not the aluminium above the tyre I'm concerned about. It's behind the tyre.

Oooh, I see now that you did say behind. That's a global concern that we could discuss with the factory over a beer or three.

LOL, speaking of "global concern":

In the video, they talk about the aluminium work being made mostly out-house - resulting in what amounts to £2 million of work. How much will actually be made in-house by the time everything is up and running? Will there be some who has theirs built in Malvern and some who has theirs built elsewhere?

In a non-judgmental way, please don't let mine wear the "Made in China" label.

Seriously, though, the only thing that concerns me about that is that if they really do have two places that the resale price will be lower for the ones built outside of Malvern, creating a sort of A and B category, if there will be different assembly/build places.

To go back to the rear tyre mud guard: No matter what Malvern will do - I will go with the lanolin saturated leather solution. It's simple, leather is great and it will also be a silent solution, so to speak (leather rather than a metal guard). It's a way of personalizing it too, even if people can't tell it from the outside.

I think they were referring to work being done in collaboration with local companies, as I assume always has been done, more or less; a supply chain. Indeed the video is about that; and how they worked with NVN in this project, and a bit about the process. I think it's great. One local company generates business for another.

I agree with what has been said in other threads, about colours, options etc. It’s a personal thing; in the end one has to live with that. And defend the choice if one meets someone! Can’t say: “Oh, the guys on the forum told me to select this."
