Having recently been obliged to change my internet server, from the useless SFR to Orange, I now have a new e-mail address.
I put that into my TalkMorgan profile but I then found that I had lost my avatar. I tried to redo it but when I put the URL into the profile, I then get the message, "Improper picture type". Evidently, I am doing something wrong, but what?

It needs to be 100x100 pixels max officially and a .gif .jpg or .png file I think. Did you perhaps insert a higher resolution one or with a different ending.
I find a decent picture, I re-size it using windows default tools to 100x100 and save it as a gif. I then use the tm-img server kindly provide by Peter (Gamb...) to upload it. I take the default link (not the BB link you normally use in postings) and insert this in the file location under the settings menu.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I have done all the above and it still does not work. I shall perhaps not bother with this any more.

Peter The avatar will accept images larger than 100x100 but for reasons of loading speed it should probably be relatively small. Often the thumbnail image is small emough. I imagine that if the image is too big it simply does not work. There is quite a bit of photo editing software that can be used to reduce the size of a photo. You need to past the image URL without any tags often refiered to as the direct link. Below is the direct URL. This is is the type of URL that you must post in your avatar section. https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/08/18/000000000000072880_E1.th.jpg Below is the same thumbnail with the image tags that would allow it to be posted in the text of a forum post. [img]https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/08/18/000000000000072880_E1.th.jpg[/img] The result would look like this in a post but would be smaller in an avatar because the forum software reduces the size ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/08/18/000000000000072880_E1.th.jpg) PS. The code boxes may not show the complete line but you can see the rightmost part if you drag the contents to the left.

Cracked it! Thank you. I discovered the problem: it is necessary to delete "https://" from the URL link, because that's already there in the profile section.

Yes I don't know why the forum prompts with the http://. It does it in several places where you need to insert a URL. Given that a coppie URL will nearly always contain the http:// or https:// it is really quite unnecessary and often causes confusion.

By the way, what does "OP" mean? That's in the box with my user name and avatar. It used to be "Blathers on a lot" or something like that.
