I fitted one of these to replace my standard horn quite a while ago and forgot to mention it on here. Initially, I thought it would be a novelty which I’d tire of, but it’s been far better than I’d expected.

Probably not for city dwellers, but where I live, a horn isn’t used in anger, it’s more often just used as per the Highway Code intended, to make others aware of your presence. The silly honk encourages more pleasant reactions than a normal horn, which somehow always sounds aggressive, come upon a soul in the middle of nowhere, a quick toot and you’ll get a cheery wave rather than a two fingered salute, I’m also convinced it does a better job of shifting critters and birdies.

Twin air horns on mine after a female driver in a Q7 almost reversed over my previous 4/4..said she couldn't hear my horn.
Disaster only averted by pedestrian who alerted her !!!!

My '67 Maserati that I had in Oz had two horns. One a normal electric horn that was connected to the steering wheel horn button and the other twin air horns with long trumpets that was actuated by a button on the end of the indicator stalk (or was it the other way round )
I was told it was referred to as "town and country horns". The twin air horns certainly made there presence known more than the beep of the "town horn"

I did exactly the same, fitted one years ago for the novelty factor but kept the original to refit. I’ve never grown tired of it as it makes me grin as well as pedestrians/other motorists.

It really is good fun isn’t it, I find myself Ahooaghing to complete strangers just to make them smile, it always works

I fitted mine behind my splitter with the horn pointing straight out one of the round holes, it’s loud, but not heart attack inducing!

I remember an old Citroen ID20 I briefly owned having similar town and country horns. You can't beat the real thing though - this Klaxon Combination horn from the 1930's. An electric motor at the end to drive the awoogah striker and more conventional vibrator driver sandwiched between, both operating on a common sound plate.

Birthday present ?

I kept my traditional horns and mounted the klaxon by the windscreen wiper motor. I thought it would stay a bit drier there as my trad horns have drowned in the past when travelling through deep water. An inline fuse from the starter solenoid to the horn and thence to a relay mounted behind the dashboard. A discrete push button by my right knee fitted to the dash undertray completed the job.

Any advice for implementing in a positive ground classic?
