I was lucky enough to see Mr O’Grady’s Max when it was up for sale. No stereotype pink, Unicorns or fluffy dice in sight. The blue/purple interior was exceptional just like the Max. I still have the photos as it was so nice.

I don’t think the OP meant it rudely.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Hardly surprising. Their business model works on buying cars which can then easily be resold in the auctions where there are clear established price levels. When did you see a Morgan in the big auction houses?

As they’re part of British car auctions they obviously wouldn’t realise a profit putting a mog through. However, I’ve just sold them my 2018 Nissan Leaf EV and got over 2k more than any Hyundai dealer was prepared to offer me in part ex for a 2020 Hyundai ioniq ev, or indeed any Nissan dealer would’ve offered in part ex for a new 2020 leaf.
So I did the deal and yes of course they knock a few hundred off the original sight unseen online quote to allow for supermarket dinks and scratches however I’m chuffed with the deal and picked up my new Ioniq ev last week. So I’m on to my third ev and haven’t been disappointed with my Hyundai Kona or the Ioniq we now have.
In fact the leaf was a good little car but the range was a minor drawback and I couldn’t resist the 5k profit I made on the deal with we buy any car.
Added bonus was that the Hyundai dealer was keen to make a sale and I got the premium se spec of the Ioniq for the price of the premium spec.
Happy days.

Quite right. WBAC sell-side customers are not really retail buyers going to an auction, they are trade: non-franchised used-car dealers who want easy to sell forecourt bait.

So if you have something mainstream but fashionable, aspirational, 'right' colour and fsh WBAC will generally bid well on it (after the initial low-pitch to hook the idiots). They are particularly good on cars which are too high mileage to fit within the franchised brand warranty scheme, so if Audi, MB, JLR bid low on a high-miler, WBAC will - in my experience - beat them by at least 10%

Just out of interest, I put my '08 Beetle Cabrio which, with the best will in the world, is now an old banger used to smoke around and every 7 days or so I go back on only to find that it's value is going up every week. I shall wait until Spring and have another look.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

Not unexpectedly they must be struggling to shift stock.

Had my Merc valued by them two weeks ago at £17k - tried again yesterday and it was £10.5k !

Sold it today for £16.5k to a trader.
