Wikipedia's team once refused to correct an error I had drawn to their attention. It was nothing of great importance, but I found the attitude strange. You could always have corrected the error yourself - that's how Wikipedia is supposed to work. There's no "team" as such that chases edits that others think ought to be made. Almost all the editors are volunteers who just happen to think it's an interesting way to spend a bit of spare time  That is precisely what I tried to do. I presented supporting evidence for my correction but it was refused.

I'm not sure what you mean by "refused". As Oakvillian has said, you just make the edit yourself. Are you saying you did that and then somebody else reversed it?

I made the edit and was told that the original text was going to stand. I gave up at that point.
