Well that's a bit of a bugger. Bodyshop phoned to say that the valance wouldn't be ready today as they were not happy with the colour match. Now next Friday. And Sunday is looking like a good garage day too. Hey ho! I'd waited since April last year for the valance so I'm guessing another week is bearable

At first, I thought mine was a perfect match, but it’s not really. It’s only noticeable in bright sunlight and if you bend down.
What are you doing with the mesh and ports, Bob? I did the mesh in brass to match the 80th brass grill,
Pete, I used “plasticote” metallic, I can’t see the name of the colour on the tin, I‘m fairly sure it was antique brass, this finish was good and even. I topped that off with clear sealer from the same brand, still looks like new.

At the moment I’m planning to leave the valance mesh insert in its natural stainless steel state. I did think about brass but the 80th brass stone guard is very subtle behind the grille and I thought painting the valance mesh brass might be a bit ‘in your face’. I’ll stick with ‘Plan A’ at the moment but the insert is easy enough to remove if I change my mind and go with brass.

The GT grill I hand painted with Hammerite silk black on top of their special metals primer to match fittings elsewhere. To date no sign of chips or stainless showing through.

I fitted mine today, also red.
Had an extra wide grille Aperture made too.
I’d post up a pic but I still can’t work out how to do it.

At last! 11 months after placing the order I now have a valance fitted. Cain's workmanship is first rate and worth waiting for. Painting took longer than expected and was probably more expensive than it needed to be but I wanted satin black on the inner face. The blue looks marginally different in the photos but is a good match to the naked eye. I took the number plate box in for the bodyshop to colour match to. I ended up polishing the stainless aperture mesh but may spray brass in the future - we'll see. Any how, pleased with the result. Now what's next.... ![[Linked Image]](https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-WtqtwXx/0/f0d0d209/X2/i-WtqtwXx-X2.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-GTJsMR5/0/ca5ff3f0/X2/i-GTJsMR5-X2.jpg)
