It's transformative, and although expensive, is well worth the outlay.

It is interesting that the car, so equipped, will pull strongly in fifth from 30mph on the flat. It will do it up a gradient but takes a bit longer and fourth does the job quicker. It seems that just below 1500 rpm is the point at which the grunt comes in. I remember being lent a new P4 by BHM (delightful as always) to drive to lunch, back in February and being less than impressed. I was ordering the car that I now have and Keith was sure then, that the complete sports exhaust and new manifold would change my viewpoint although at the time it was being developed. Any way, he was right.

I have had a run done of my car with the lbrands manifold and standard map

The ECU is currently at Malvern being remapped, once its back and in the car I will get another run booked in and update with the results of both

Did you have the remap and if so were you impressed?

I'm trying to decide between the factory AR and the Librands systems including the remap for my GDI.

Finally, anyone any idea of the cost of the AR system? I've been trying to get the price from the factory but nothing as yet.

Thanks

P.S. I've been a member since 2012 but lost my ID during the recent site hiccup!

The AR system is about £2300, but you might get them to just sell you the manifold and cat. The silencer looks identical. The rear end pipe is shorter to accommodate the twin tailpipe.

Thanks for that, it seems that if I want the twin pipes (which look good) I will need the full AR system.

So it's about £2,600 including remap with fitting extra.

Well, in for a penny and all that!

Hi Wigmog,

I did have the map done, performance and driveability has increased noticably.

MPG has gone from around 25 to around 40.

One of the best upgrades you can do in my opinion.

My car has the librands manifold, factory standard exhaust and the clubsport map.

Thanks for the feedback RBW and DaveW

Sorry to be numb but one last question if you don't mind.

If I had the AR manifold and cat fitted but kept my factory standard original silencer and tailpipe, presumably I could add the twin piped sports silencer at a later date if I am not happy with the sound?

Also, does the sports silencer affect the performance in any way or is it just about aesthetics and noise with the manifold and cat making the difference in oomph along with the remap?

Many thanks.

Not a problem Wigmog

You should be able the silencer at a later date if you wished, however I am not sure what the diameter of the AR manifold is and its mountings in relation to the standard exhaust. It may be that you will have to get the AR exhaust as well. DaveW should be able to confirm the diameter etc.

From what I understand the diameter of the AR manifold and exhaust is wider than my librands manifold and factory exhaust setup.

A sports exhaust should be less restrictive and allow better venting of gases, thus improving performance, however there is a fine line, a exhaust which is too big\free flowing for the car could result in lower performance is my understanding.

Whereabouts in the UK are you? I would be more than happy to take you out in my car if it helps?
