Thought provoking thoughts indeed, and as JLR are owned by TATA was the information in the Cloud above India and if so who owns it ?

I can't wait for the divorce solicitors to cotton on to this there is going to be some very interesting conversations going on leaving very little wriggle room for the guilty parties.

Just some of the information I can get from the Jaguar app.



This shows me that the car is still at the dealer's body shop. And that the bonnet is open. By clicking on the button it can give me a navigation map of how to arrive at the car from my current position.

Clicking on the map itself allows me to zoom in to see the position of the car in detail.





This shows me that the car is not locked, that the alarm is not set, that doors and windows are shut but that the boot and bonnet are open.



This shows the most recent trips of the car. Trips on the back of the tow truck are not shown however, since the location of the car is always available from the tracking, I am sure that information could be obtained.



This shows details of the last trip up until the time that the car was hit from behind whilst stationary.

And just for the heck of it, this is what happened.



Note that the car, having registered the impact, automatically called Jaguar Land Rover assistance and before I could draw breath there was a voice asking if we needed an ambulance.

This is a good example of how the technology can work as a benefit when needed.

The precision and accuracy of speed limit recognition will have to improve significantly for that to work.
On Motorways and Trunk roads, and in residential areas the displayed limit is generally correct on the A35, but once in the country, it is generally wrong, mostly I think because of missing or out of alignment signs.

It's all getting very high tech, isn't it..?

It's remarkable that they have the data, but don't appear to use it commercially. I may be wrong, but isn't it all about permissions when you're loaded with things like this..? The information on movements will rely upon satellites and the usual GPS points, and it's my understanding that currently, the accuracy isn't sufficient to beyond 'Reasonable Doubt'. Again, I may be wrong on that one. Either way, investigating a murder has certainly moved on in Midsummer village..!

On a separate note, I read somewhere that the insurance 'black box' initiative for newly qualified drivers has been proven to be so faulty it's almost fraudulent.

Speed limiting however, is a much different matter.. Over speeding could even be handled away from the Police then. DVLA for instance.. And they NEVER make mistakes, do they..?

That "stuff" from Peters Jaguar is unbelievable but in the case of the accident, it is brilliant in that if he had needed medical help, it would have already been requested and to think, I haven't even got any door handles !!!
