Would I buy a Morgan now - certainly, in fact I have (although it was ordered well before Covid 19 struck).

Is top down motoring safe at the moment with all those deadly Corona-virus spores in the air ?

It's far healthier than being cooped up at home with all those toilet rolls, beans and pasta that are probably covered in the virus

My wife returned from her normal mid week shop in a state of mild shock yesterday at the buying madness at Sainsburys and Lidl, what the hell is wrong with these people.

I agree. Total madness. I have heard that the government has ordered manufacturers of antiseptic hand washes and tissues to only supply the NHS from now on. Presumably the NHS will ration and distribute these. Seems sensible to me.

I could only find one packet of soap in Waitrose yesterday. Panic buying is totally unnecessary and anti-social.

I hadn't read that about the wipes etc what a state this has turned people into morons it's very disturbing seeing these things happen in your own area.

I work as a solicitor in the legal department of a major retailer. We are in meetings with the government about what to do to control panic buying and to ensure regular supplies in the current months. Steps will be taken !!

I have been trying to source handwash and wipes for the MiL's McArthy & Stone place. I approached some of the medical distributors to see if I could get a small _volume_ for the forthcoming lockdown and all three I got through to said that all product they have coming in has been hi-jacked by the NHS for various places (ambulance, local surgery, visiting midwives etc) and they have been asked to go through their suppliers root and branch for anything hiding in a corner of a stock room.

One good use of the governments money would be to go directly to the production companies and pay them to ramp up like monsters and sort out their needs. Put the Army Logistics behind them and use this war footing discussion being swallowed up by the press.

David, that is reassuring to hear it must be very difficult and expensive to introduce such control methods.

I agree with this.

Have you heard the talk about motor manufacturers, such as Rolls Royce, being required to manufacture ventilators for the NHS. A Rolls Royce ventitlator would be a sight to behold. As would a Morgan one, no doubt hand made from ash and aluminium with wire wheels.

(Totally personal opinion) I don't agree with the other companies making them unless they have pedigree in the area. I would prefer that resource is put under the existing vendors so that the established hidden skills are maintained that make it successful. The ideas is simple but medical devices have a sort of tolerance that needs to be understood. I don't want to end up as the beta-test site of a company learning and ramping at the same time. I am happy to screw a bit of Ash to it and sharpie Morgan across the front on the other hand.

very definitely for the daily. The dealers are on their backs, the market is dead, interest rates are silly low, and diesels are the spawn of the devil. What better time to buy a diesel car on finance?

As for toys like Morgan - wouldnt go near a new one but there will be some distressed sale of older ones going about whether the be estate sales or financial pressure. So yes there will be bargains.

The only caveat is that IMO this virus will do far more economic damage than the financial crisis, not least because the UK workforce has the option of as many paid 2 week holidays as they fancy, and the 300bn slush fund will generate a feeding frenzy of subsidy applications and scams.
