Is anyone else here addicted to car magazines?

I subscribe to Evo and Octane and usually buy Classic and Sports Car and Classic Cars Magazine every month, plus Road Rat and Magneto (quarterly). And then there's Miscellany, of course. I have a huge pile of magazines building up and not enough time to read them. It's pushed my consumption of "real" literature to the sideline - as a literature lover I always liked to keep up my "serious" reading, but now it's just car magazines and books. I'm starting to feel guilty!

Blimey, I get a paper copy of Autocar and have not managed to read up to date on those so have a pile unread!

The rest I consume on line from one of the many devices in short moments of decompression.

David, I started buying Motor cycle mechanics circa 1965, then on to Car Mechanics, when old cars were referred to as bangers, to then move on to the first editions of the "Classic" press when the bangers were escalated to such high status almost overnight..(-: Bought those mage religiously till the interweb arrived, and only over the last year so I binned the majority of them, I used them as reference material over many a year, and spent many an hour trying to find specific articles I remembered having read... A great way to pass time, though the interweb access to ALL kinda undermined the viability of the collection.... I now have freed up loads of cupboard and shelve space to store toilet rolls... (-:

Not quite addicted; though I’ve read MotorSport for as long as I can remember and in recent years I also have an annual subscription to The Automobile.
MotorSport has always amazed me with its classified advertisements. Even in this month’s copy, there are private advertisements for such things as; a Porsche 996GT3 and a Brabham BT35.

The Automobile tends to be only available in the larger branches of W H Smith, but is well worth a look.
Some great articles about (mainly) pre-war vehicles. It also covers most of the VSCC events.

Hi David,

I used to buy Classic and Sports Car and Classic Cars Magazine every month, probably from 1984 to 2016. I found it was starting to get "advert based" and has lost it's way.

I got the huge numbers of these saved and took then to a Car Boot sale, probably sold 5 out of hundreds i lugged their - so they went in the recycling.....shame really.

Saved all my C&SC and Classic Car mags from day one up until a few years ago.
Kept them in the loft. The weight of the boxes was unbelievable. Paid the price for this as when I picked up one box I slipped on a rafter and fell through the ceiling............painful I can tell you.
All on line now!

I used to take Motor Sport and Classic & Sports Car Classic regularly but stopped.

When Motor Punk appeared I subscribed after meeting Rich at Goodwood Revival and thoroughly enjoyed the 4 editions they produced in their quirky humorous style which suited me down to the ground. They had some fantastic adventures on a budget which was very clever and they REALLY got Morgans luckily they are still online Motor Punk An article on Gordon Bennett featuring "the killer" Brooklands Roadster laugh2

I read what I need online now.

I received this from SeaTacTom and enjoyed reading their very good magazine California Mogging

I have cut down a bit. The Automobile is on subscription - I have every issue from #1 much to the disgust of Mrs F plus Miscellany of course although I don’t keep back issues.
I also subscribe to Flypast which covers aviation heritage and a chum passes Classic & Sportscar on to me after he has read them. These latter 2 are then passed on to my father who, in turn passes them on to a mate of his.
