Taken from a car dealers website below. Apparently you can leave a deposit but buying and driving a car away from a dealers isn't allowed unless you are a key worker? Customer Notice: As of 24th March we will be closed to keep inline with the current government guidelines. We can still answer any questions you may have via email at this time as well as take holding deposits for after these measures are lifted. However if you are a key worker and in need of a car feel free to get in touch and i will see if we can accommodate you.

We have purchased 3 new vehicles in the last year, each supplying Dealer has emailed us confirming they are following the Gov guide lines and closing until further notice.

I suppose a private seller could sell a car but the buyer would have to be making an essential trip food shopping or going to the chemist etc to drive it home. Bad news for Morgan dealers however.

Heather's new car is being delivered tomorrow on a flat bed from up north but I negotiated the sale last Friday so it's going ahead just in the nick of time. Cash sale and no part exchange so very straightforward.
The VW dealer did make sure that we were happy to receive the car under the present circumstances first though.
All she will be doing is shopping runs for the time being and checking on friends.
It'll be fun planning some new adventures for the autumn, fingers crossed.

Unfortunately that's looking like the case for our Morgans too Richard. We could miss the whole summer with our Morgans! The only positive is that if all new car production is stopped then new Morgans wont be available for some time which might mean buyers buy nearly new used Morgans when the restrictions are lifted.

Very true Rob, Heather doesn't do open air motoring so our long excursions are all in tin tops and her new one should be fun I haven't told her yet that it has the same power as my Plus 8 I really hope it isn't going to last all summer I shall go nuts without my "fix" so I'm leaving the Morgan taxed and ready to run. A good point about Morgan sales, also the forbidden fruit always tastes the best so it's possible that with the recent launch of the Plus Four that customers will be knocking at the MMC door for them soon, I certainly hope so.

Thanks Gary, we were very lucky indeed on the timing front.

So if car dealers including Morgan dealers are open then are they only allowed to serve 'key workers ' ? Whats the point of them being open if you aren't allowed to go there ? Or are you ?
