Hi, We collected our new Plus 4 from Newtown (Cwmbran) last week, had a great drive back to Bournemouth, so very different from the MX5s we've owned over the last 10 years. One or two small issues to sort out, but one problem we need to solve is the lack of adjustment on the nearside door mirror. it just points to the sky on the limit of its movement and as we have a fairly tight drive to reverse into we do need this to be ok. We've seen some round mirrors for sale (ours are the standard oblong factory fit) are these any better? Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks,
Roganval

Great to hear you are enjoying the new car.
I think you will probably find several previous threads on this issue. The general concensus seems to be that the round mirrors are an improvement, especially for the nearside, and I think they look better anyway. The Librands replacements are excellent and better quality than the factory offering.
In case you haven't spotted it yet, the mirror stem is also adjustable, its a fairly strong spring but from memory there are 3 possible positions for the arm. Playing around with that might help.

roganval, I gather you had a look at my car in Newtown when collecting yours!!! If you noticed I have the Factory Round mirrors and I have the nearside stalk moved to the most upright position -- as Petemog says it is a strong spring but it does move!!! When you do this it is possible to get the mirror to give a good view. I expect that the Librands mirrors may be a better quality and also make sure you get the convex ones as they give a better view IMHO and better eliminate blindspots.
Hope you get many enjoyable miles from your car!

Simply because I could get all the bits ( inc the nurl screws etc) in stainless if you don't, you end up with great mirrors and 'orrible rust stains streaking from the attachments G

No amount of the available adjustment sorted mine out. Bin 'em and replace with round ones (I did after two weeks). Mine came from Heart of England Morgans, and are infinitely better.

G, I would agree that the factory ones are not up to what you would get from Hear of England, but, so far, with frequent polishing, the factory ones are acceptable. Next birthday seems a good time to change!!!! (note to SWMB....!!)

Make sure you get convex glass - that is the real secret to a decent field of view on the nearside mirror.

I went for the Librands stainless steel. Look great and work well. They seem to have greater articulation than the factory ones.
