I have recently fitted a new carb on my car (all working OK) but I am curios to know what this inlet/outlet is for. I have pushed a probe up inside but it just hits a blank, so I'm not sure if it actually does anything.

Can anyone enlighten me please?

Vacuum advance retard take off when fitted to a Ford crossflow.

Is the carb number 32/36 DGV 5A? stamped into the base flange

As I don't have vacuum advance on my distributor should I blank it off? As I said previously I did insert a probe but it hit a hard surface, but I'm not sure if there is a channel that goes off at right angles inside. I suppose I could put my finger, or soap suds, over the hole and rev the engine to see if it sucks?

Makes sense to blank it off even if it appears blocked.

Looks a new carb so still under warranty so I'd not advise crimping the brass tube to close it.

Bit of close fitting rubber tube with an m4/m5 bolt in it to blank it off.

If the cars running ok with it I don't think theres much point in changing the carb
