Progress on the +4. Engine and transmission are in the shop, but clearly not yet "married" to the car. Patience, patience.

That's odd  . Would have expected engine and transmission to be installed before painting. All the factory visits I've been on suggest this happens in tin shop before wheeling out for painting.

This is an American import deal - all new cars are imported this way the engines etc are re installed on arrival. Tom is having a ceramic coating added to the "headers" at the present time.

Swap the GDI engine for a small block chevy , sure it will fit and would be a lot more fun !

Richard & all:
Am sure there are folks on here that know the exact history; how Bill Fink of ISIS motors, managed to get Morgan cars imported....but let me fast forward to what I know, and what is going on present day to get these cars into America.
To import them, and avoid all the DOT (Department of Transportation ~ US Federal agency) that are classified as "kit cars". So, the factory builds out the car to the buyers specifications, then removes the engine and transmission. The car is shipped in a container, and the engine transmission are required to be shipped in a different container. This results in the car arriving here, then sometime after that the engine and transmission. It is more entailed than that...the US dealers also install the headlights and in many cases attach the cowl badges.
As mentioned it has been this way for many years, and from what I understand will continue in the 2020 model year.
(and YES! I'd rather have a small block Chevrolet engine (283cu or 327cu) but the warranty (from MMC) would be voided immediately....so ...fo now we'll deal with the 4cyl. Ford engine.)

Wow , that is a hell of an interesting article there John , amazing how the v8 is so well suited to the Morgan , how many on here would love to do this , a lot I think , needs posting in the Morgan Arms area !  Pity the LS engine wasn't used by Morgan instead of the BMW as lots of tuning options ?
