Hi! As many people into cars I am also into wrist watches and was wondering if there is a watch you consider to be a perfect match with your Morgan?

For me I think that it would have to have a vintage look but a modern "engine" just like my 4/4 Sport.

Here is my list:
Omega Speedmaster
Any IWC Mark Pilot watch
CWC Royal Navy Chronograph (re-edition)
Smiths watches (Timefactors re-editions)
Vertex Watches (Re-editions)
Hamilton Khaki Field (Manual wind)

Interestingly I never "bonded" with the Christopher Ward Morgan watches...

Do you have others?

Omega Speedmaster

This is a topic that comes up every so often. There are lots of watch fanciers on the forum and some serious collectors.

Here is my response from an earlier thread on the same topic.

Two years ago in the watch shop I compared an Omega Speedmaster with coaxial drive, sapphire crystal and metal bracelet with my simple 2002 Speedmaster Professional with manual winding and Hesalite crystal. I like my simple Professional better, but that is a matter of taste. I like the simple original style. The Hesalite watch is also lighter which I appreciate. I have a 2004 Broad Arrow with sapphire crystal, but it is creamy white. There the glass looks ok and the weight is also ok because it has a thin leather strap. On a black Speedmaster the sapphire crystal would always bother me no matter how rare or exclusive the model type is.

It is a very significant difference for me in nature, not only visually but also emotionally. You have to see the Hesalite watch in real life. BTW slight scratches disappear by themselves when wearing a shirt sleeve over the watch.
In addition it occurs to me that the Hesalite Speedmaster fits in its philosophy very well to a 4/4

Yes I agree with you. I also have the hesalite version which I prefer over the sapphire which I don't think are that rare anyway

I like your Meistersinger Monograph a lot! I have thought many times of buying a Meistersinger... Maybe in the future?

I would like to add two more parameters for me..

-It would have to be British or have some association with Britain. The Speedy is excluded from this :-) but the IWC was the watch that the brand made specifically for Spitfire Pilots after WW2.

-It would need to have some water resistance seeing that my Moggie is not exactly water tight!

I‘m just returning from a shop where I left 2 mechanical watches for a 10 year’s service.
Similar cost range like for my Morgan annual service.

I am not sure any more if this is a true necessity, especially at that price range. I have a more than 100 years old IWC Savonette, once purchased by my grand-grandfather that has not seen a service for at least 50 years and still runs perfect.
