Some highly suspect claims by the AM CEO
“I guarantee you that you’ll never get as many thumbs up from other drivers as you do when you drive an Aston” - he’s obviously never driven a Morgan !
In regards to the fact that they have design, engineering and manufacturing in the same plant “...it’s quite unique in that sense because everything is here together” - he needs to visit Malvern I think, and of course the engines are built in Germany.

The guy on the production line also said that the cars are “built by hand with the aid of technology” - it looked pretty much like any other car factory I’ve seen recently and not a lot of hand built.

I’ve always liked Astons but at £237k ....I don’t think so.

Watched the Aston programme last night

I was quite impressed with the manufacturing facility and no doubt the cars are well designed and engineered but they don’t float my boat

I did chuckle at the CEO comment about everyone giving a thumbs up to Aston drivers

Maybe in the states but not over here and nothing compared to driving a Morgan

If I was in the market for modern GT with that sort of big money, I would go for the New Bentley Continental

You can see why Aston are losing huge amounts of money with that plant and technology and 80 designers

These first two programs have been totally underwhelming they are just so characterless - we'll see what they do with Morgan's next week I'm not holding my breath though. The narrator sounds like he's reporting on a war not an exciting product which doesn't help.

The build process of the Aston is very complex and expensive on machines and labour . A very complex car compared to a morgan and at £237k it's big money . It makes a new porsche turbo at £165k look reasonable money. Wish they could make a profit and be successful like Morgan ! grin2

God knows what the Morgan programme will be like !

Comparing the Bentley and AM program it struck me that there was very little to differentiate between the two in the methodology. Not an awful lot of mechanical hand craftsmanship but hi-tech in bundles.
I visited AM in Newport Pagnell many years ago when they were manufacturing the DBS V8 and to see one man build an engine and then put his own name plate on it.

Will have a go at watching the Bentley build tonight if nothing else on , and have taken on board the comments made by TM'ers regarding the rather antiseptic build process apart from the leather trimmers ! spend

I did prefer the Bentley programme content to the AM programme as it did have some owners/clients and did show some cars being used rather than just a build process wich can get tedius , the Bentley engines are also built on site rather than shipped in from the Cologne site . Looking forward to next weeks Morgan build and maybe a few owners and possibly TM'ers showing people round ? thinking

Anyone notice ‘’ the engines are built in Aston’s engine plant in Cologne ‘’ ? They use Mercedes engines FFS,
next week will probably be ‘’ the engines are built in Morgan’s engine plant in Munich’’? 😂 looking forward....
