Hi Mike that's is video that shows exactly the same hood than mine ,going to see if I can fit a latch on each side to provide a belt and braces solution if not I will try Beamish Morgan when we are set free. Thanks for your interest.Cheers.

I checked my archives and I have some photographs of the hood on my 2004 4/4 4 seater. The photographs were taken to provide evidence that MMC had sent the wrong windscreen to me, so some of the image looks a bit odd

each end of the hood rail has a hook

[Linked Image]

When the hood is erected the rear of the hood is left 'floating' so the hood is not tensioned, as the hood rail is laid over the top of the screen, the rail is tilted forwards and the hooks locate onto a pin on each side of the windscreen pillars. As the hood is fixed at the rear and the hood is tensioned the hood rail rotates back to being level and the hooks are 'secured' under the pins. Don't get confused, by the original screen propped up in front of the 'wrong' screen just to show MMC the problem

This pic shows another view of the hook. Sadly the screen is incorrect so the hook should meet with the pin in the screen side pillar, but sadly not when I have the wrong screen. I think I had three wrong screens from MMC before eventually I had to go to the company that makes the screens for MMC so they could see what I wanted and make it.

At the rear end, inside the car, the early 4 seaters of this series had a rubber toggle to attach and secure the rear end of the hood, pulling it down to meet the body and tension the hood, later models have a metal latch on the body that fits to hooks on the rear of the hood and is then levered down to pull down the rear.

Cheers Mike that's it exactly, never gave the fitting a thought until it suddenly jumped out (on wifes side who graped it before it beheaded her)while on the motorway doing 70.It has done it once more on my side at a much slower speed and I got a slight warning with wind noise so slower right down now I am paronoid when hood is up .Cheers again.

So we can confirm that it is the MMC standard hood for that model of 4 seater. It may be worth checking the sealing rubbers in the hood rail, the hood rail should rotate and sit such that the hooks are securely gripping the pins, if the rail doesn't sit correctly it may not be positioned to grip the pin. I guess the other problem could be a lack of tension in the hood and it is not pulling hard enough on the hood rail to secure it to the pin.

They are a good car, a friend of mine has the motor show car from the initial launch and took the family everywhere in it. Another friend has the brochure car. The main problem I had was the time taken to erect the hood. I would ignore rain clouds until the precipitation got serious, SWMBO would keep telling me to stop and erect the hood, but as the hood erection process needed significant investment of time I would ignore the advice until we were getting seriously wet.

I think a good Morgan agent with a trim shop should be able to sort it, maybe someone like Allon Whites. I guess timing depends on what Boris says on Sunday.
