No front edge on mine (4 seat). There are also a couple of metal plates (going front to back) that join the planks together.

Culminator ..... in the pic there are two planks (the join is behind the rear seat frame ) . Joined by two straps held by two coach bolts (you can see the heads ) and two wood screws from underneath ..... it's held to the chassis by three bolts one either side and one at the back centre ..... the stainless steel bits are just me ....After 45 years the tank mounting had chafed into the wood near the four bolts that hold the tank in so I've made two plates for the tank to stand on ....you can see the nuts of the four bolts sitting there waiting for the tank fit ..... also a strengthening piece under the single rear bolt and penny washer under the side ones, again to stop chafing over time ..... the body frame is just tagged there as I final-fitted the bulkhead yesterday and want all the mastic to set with everything aligned ...tank will be fitted before the body is dropped on for the final time ....planks are bedded in mastic on the chassis. My car is a 4 seater but if the fundamentals are different in the 2 seater I'm sure someone will be along to put me right ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/05/16/20200516_153544.jpg) K

Depends on the age of the car. Later ones the planks are on a frame that is bolted to the chassis.

My 79 +8 didn't have wooden planks, the tank was mounted on two z shaped steel brackets one direct to each chassis rail.

You’ve bonded the boards in?
How will you get the tank out if there’s a ever a problem with it?
They come out from underneath
I make a stainless steel frame that does away with the boards

On the 4 seater than can be removed from above easily. - remove the four fixing bolts and hoses and lift straight out (having done it twice in the last week or so  )
