Cracking day out (as it transpires quite literally), first this year in fact first since October.

Planned to pop out for an hour, maybe a 30-40 mile run. Just back after 4.5 hours and 135 miles ;-).

Solihull to Warwick, Banbury, across to Daventry, up to A5 and follow to Wolvey (near M69) down the lanes again to A46, back to Warwick and home.

Car ran faultlessly and it would’ve been a perfect day other than on the A46 smooth section of road nothing near me no stones flying almighty crack noise and the windscreen has cracked from the top left-hand corner down almost to the scuttle! Just a stress crack, frustrating but didn’t spoil the day.

It’s no big issue John but thanks. It’s the 3rd Morgan screen I have needed and apart from the excess it’s covered. Good excuse for a run down to see a John and Phil again.

Common fault on 4/4 Sport. It has happened to a number while car parked in garage overnight (as our pal Jays will attest!)..

Glad you had a good run out otherwise. It's good for one's sanity. I shall be out in mine again tomorrow - didn't today, trying to catch up with things around the house... smile

Graham, any particular reason the 4/4 sport is affected more than average ?

No idea Jon.
I remember when Jays one went, there had been a number of cracked windscreens posted here, almost all on 4/4 Sport, a number of which had occurred overnight while cars were parked up. Relatively fewer reported on other models, on here (and MogTalk). Possibility other models were under-reported, of course.
There was a conclusion as to likely cause posted here in a thread about them, but it was a good few years ago. Not heard/seen anything about windscreen cracks for a few years, so assumed (dangerous things assumptions!) that the problem had been resolved.

Sorry to hear about the crack, lovely that you can see the enjoyment of the run and not the problem about the crack. If there is one thing this lockdown has shown me it is that the roses smell nice.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Yes, I understand that there was a small design change which placed more stress on the screen. Morgan of course refused to entertain any claims and dumped everything back on the insurance companies. I had one crack while the car was parked overnight at a hotel on a Morgan club weekend. Definitely not one of MMC's better customer relations actions since all affected owners had to fork out for the insurance excess which, IIRC was £100 at the time

£125 now, Gott and Wynn just said get it done when you can and send us the invoice. I emailed Allon Whites but no reply yet. Shaun said they are open for bits and bobs but not main workshop.
