The seller (UK Lotus Centre) appears to have some glowing Google and Ebay reviews - less so if you dig around elsewhere on the internet. Not exactly the most detailed seller write-up and judging by the amount of dust covering the car in the photo's - possibly neither cherished or cared for. Markedly cheap cars are usually cheap for a reason. You pays yer money....

It is a "modern barn find", bought by someone who for whatever reason was unable to drive it since the CAT D repair and it was left, forgotten?
Power steering problem?
Where is Simon?
Assume £10k would see it back on the road, so for £45k a good car at about the right price.

I researched that dealer, most complaint are related to the fact that he deals with cat cars, which as long as it's in the open is not much of a problem for me, if the rebuilt is documented.

I agree about the documentation.
What damage caused it to be Cat D?
Who did the repair?
Do they have documentation , photos, paperwork for the repair?
It looks nice in the photos BUT........
A few years ago I went to see a Porsche 944 to use as a regular drive. Knew the owner from work. Nice looking car with just minor wear and tear. A front wing impact damage repair was photographed and it was a pukka job. It looked like a deal would be done......
While talking about servicing, MOT etc he let slip that his garage were struggling with emissions and several attempts to cure it had failed. They were a sympathetic garage though! A game changer! It was a Porsche! Possible ££££. Walked away. Shame as it was a nice car otherwise.

To be a CAT D it must have sustained significant damage that made it uneconomical to repair. Given that it's never been MOT'd, that's 11 years without one it surely must have been damaged over 10 years ago. So it must have sustained substantial damage to warrant CAT D at less than 3 years old.
