I appreciate your good lady's anxiety as my good lady had the same after plebs of the same value attempted to break into our home at 3am and get the keys for our car. May I suggest poorly
grounded 240v AC electrics on the perimeter of it as a guide for them?

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

How horrible...undermines your sense of personal safety...totally unacceptable.

To quote John Wayne...(the Howdy Pard'ner one) "We need a big tree and a strong rope" (for those don't catch the meaning...horse thieves/attempted horse thieves get hung out west.)

These are trying times....desperate people resorting to desperate acts.

Stay safe.

I thought about something along these lines and am still tempted. The only downside, that I cannot resolve in my head yet, is that it would take me several minutes to put the wheels back on (2 would be required on our 2 axle trailer). The reason that this is an issue is the time 3 years ago when we had to rush a poorly horse to the vets* and the extra time could have been an issue. He got better but we were told that it was 50/50.

* Vets normally come out to us, but when the horse has Colic, they usually ask for the horse to be taken to the veterinary hospital while the horse is still well enough to stand. That way they then have access to the full facilities. Left too long and transport become impossible without specialist kit which would take too long to reach us.

Sorry to read this Paul.
Glad to hear that it is your trailer that has been found and no one was hurt. Good luck with increasing the security measures.

We hate thieves just a short walk away is a large field with an elderly white mare and a black stallion , we have been keeping an eye on them .
Everyday we take some food on a m/ing and evening . But a drunken daughter of a long time ago person I know has been hitting the horse . Now the word is spread .
I hope it kicks her . We are animal lovers.

Sorry to hear this but glad the trailer is recovered. Horses and people not hurt is a bonus.
Love to Jan

Paul I've just caught up with this thread and am sorry to read of your misfortune while pleased the trailer has been found. This is a shocking thing to happen and one tends not to associate crime like this with your beautiful rural surroundings. Hope they catch 'em and throw the book at them.

Thanks all for the comments.

I totted up my spend to date - £328 on two new security devices, a new rear number plate and the vinyl lettering. We decided to go for our phone number and name rather than post code. This is because the trailer is taken to Norfolk 3 times a year (in normal times) and we felt giving name and partial address could cause a security issue when the trailer is parked 100 miles from home. Police advice (Mrs F's riding instructor is married to a police officer) is to do anything to make our trailer distinctive.

There is a £100 excess on the insurance so we will wait until we have the full cost to decide if we will claim. Increased premiums could make a claim of around £200 net a poor deal.

WTF is going on in the UK... Awful.

I would now put up a BIG SIGN... "All objects within this premises have been treated with live Covid 19 virus".

Just hope the scum that does this catches the bug and then spends a little remaining time as possible on this planet. mad2
