If only ;-) with no cut out in the rear panel and no tool tray on the Sport it’s quite a faff to even see the fuel tank ;-). I think the info supplied by you guys is right and unless someone says otherwise will take it as 55 Litres, will plan to not go below 45 Litre use (40 to start with and will carry my spare fuel can) and track refills to confirm. The way it’s running (just tootling A and B roads for 300ish miles so far) that should give me about 350 miles between fills.
I am guessing it’s not going to end up far away from my previous +4’s with Duarte’s, yes they are larger engines but much more torque so could pull higher gears sooner.

Colin I start looking for petrol at 300 miles in our Sigma engined 4/4 and always aim to fill up before 350. Looking at my fuel log, the most it has ever needed for a refill was 39.55 litres and that was at 357 miles with consumption on that tank being at 41mpg. Over 28,000 miles, mine has averaged 42.9 mpg with the best being 53.1mpg and the worst 39.2mpg.

Graham. Is the float on your sender positioned correctly? If it is the one with the wire to float design bending it could help.
If it is the type inside a tube (as my 4/4 was) then not sure how much scope there is for adjusting. Perhaps cleaning electrical contacts might help too? Dirty ones increase resistance in the circuit.

The tube type sometimes have a ‘trim’ screw on the outside. I tried mine and whilst it would then read full the car ran out on 1/4 tank so I gave up and reset it back to where it was, much safer that way of course.
The odometer is they way to go.

Absolutely. I usually fill up every 250 miles. If I've been driving with a degree of exuberance this means 34 litres goes in, considerably less when touring. 250 miles is plenty long enough to drive without stretching one's legs and having a pee/coffee, and it means I've got at least 10 litres in reserve.

Absolutely. I usually fill up every 250 miles. If I've been driving with a degree of exuberance this means 34 litres goes in, considerably less when touring. 250 miles is plenty long enough to drive without stretching one's legs and having a pee/coffee, and it means I've got at least 10 litres in reserve. I totally agree with this approach. Though we tend to stop for a coffee far more frequently than 250 miles.

I do the same. I start to look to fill up at 200 miles. Typically at 29 mpg that is roughly just over half a tank.

Is the 10 litres in reserve pee or coffee? 🤣🤣 I can manage 2 litres if I use one of my overnight bags these days, it’s solved a problem I have had for some time as I just plumb myself in to a bag under the passenger seat. It’s about the only good thing to come out of this disease (good is a relative term 🤣🤣). BR Colin
