Hi all, Has anyone ever considered or fitted a "Push Button" start to their Morgan? Asking as I quite fancy the idea for my 2011 Plus 4. John

I believe they all require the use of the ignition key/lock which defeats the object to me. This includes the latest Plus Four which further requires you operate the key against the normal starter detent spring to arm the starter button Having said this I thought it period appropriate to have a button Start for the 1936 diesel twin on my narrowboat. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/O4JEaPB.jpg) Ignition switch is simple on/off.

On my 64 4/4 I installed a push button start switch bought from Summit Racing here in the US, did not need the ignition key but did install a power switch. I also installed a cut off switch in the rear of the car for security purposes, although I have never actually used it. I ran this for many years with no problems then switched to the M3W style military switch that supplies power and also starts.

The other issue is how you want the Start button to operate, one touch with auto start sequence or starter operating for as long as you press the button much like early cars. My Roadster for example has an automated start sequence controlled by the powertrain control module. If you don't choose the Start button option a link is added to compensate but you still get the automated start requiring you only operate key in start position momentarily.
Upshot is if your car had a factory start button option when new it should be easy to retro-fit. Otherwise the only practical option is to add an old style starter button and wire in parallel with the key start.

All the start buttons seem to need a key to arm , safety reasons ?

I guess the same reason if you turn the key on a normal setup but don't quite start the engine you have to switch off before having another try ...to stop you engaging the starter while the engine is already running

K Interestingly on the newplus six and newplus four you have to turn the key then press the start button once and then press the start button again to actually start. Whereas on my Mog you turn they key and then press the start button and away you go !

That is my understanding. The child in me loves the idea but in reality it is pointless

Mogs already have glitchy electrics as seen by the many query threads on here
So why add further connections, wiring & a vanity switch ?
