Hello there, I have the above vehicle and want to change the fuel filter during a normal service schedule. The top fuel filter connection seems to need a very special removal tool, one that I don't own! I have been a mechanic all my working life and have never seen this type of high pressure connection. Can any of you guys help me with an answer please? The connection seems to have two small slots under the connector that may be the openings for a special tool to ingress? Thanks guys!

If I remember my 1993 car correctly then the fuel pipes clip on with a bead on the metal in/out tubes to hold things in place. The end of the pipe has a clip that you release to give clearance over the bead.I didn’t need a special tool when I changed mine. I think it needed thin pliers to press gently on the clip to release it. Look for a release mechanism on the clip.
Can you post a photo? That would show the clip design.
Think of it in principle as similar to garden hose fittings. Release a lock mechanism and pull.

Hello there, thank you for your input! I thought that I had seen and dealt with all the quick release clips on the market but this one is completely different. There is only around 8mm space between the clip and filter body so access is limited. I can see using a mirror 2 small slots in the lower clip body which must be the release access. In the interim I have found a Ford tool that looks to be the one for the job. OTC 7782 is an aftermarket replacement. We'll see when it arrives from the States. I will attempt to upload a picture of the tool and packaging which shows an exact representation of my clip. Thanks again and I will post the result when the tool arrives. I guess that I could use some bent end circlip pliers but fear damaging the integrity of the existing clip.

That's the one! Maybe Morgan used what was available at the time regarding fuel line accessories. It is identical to my clip. Maybe it will help others if this is the correct tool. Thanks guys for your interest and I will keep you posted.

Adrian, that fitting looks different to what I remember on my 1993 car. I will look through some old photos to see if I have one to check. No help to you though!

Just an update. Tool arrived and is correct for the fitting on the top of the fuel filter. Worked a treat!
